How do I connect an Xbox 360 to my PC directly using a regular ethernet cable?

Xbox is connected to my PC by an ethernet cable, and my pc is wirelessly connected to my router. Right now, my PC and Xbox don’t want to talk to each other, and my PC talks to my router fine. I am not able to change any options on the router. My current goal is to be able to share files from my computer to my Xbox. I’m not worried about Xbox live ast the moment.

The reason they will not talk is because you need a cross-over cable not just a straight ethernet cable. You can not do it without a cross-over

ethernet is for internet, not sharing files, you must but a hard disk drive cable for your XB360 and plug in your hard drive to it, then to your computer and it will allow you to access the files… its about 40 on ebay
    Good Luck
