You’d need to sign up with an internet service provider (ISP) if you don’t have cable/DSL already and purchase a router

If you sign up for DSL, they provide you a box so you don’t need a router

Step 1 Plug in the wireless router next to the Internet modem. You do not need to plug it to the Internet yet. Check the signal strength on all the desktop computers that you want to use in the house. If you have a laptop, check the signal strength everywhere you might want to use it, including outside. If you have a weak signal and have DSL, try to move the router next to another available phone line where you can easily plug in your Internet modem. Check for the signal strength again.

Step 2 Once you have decided on the placement of the wireless router, connect to the management console using the login and password that is provided in your manual. Change the wireless encryption from none to WPAv2, and enter the password you want to use for the computer to connect to the Wireless. It will prevent unauthorized users from using and spying on your Internet connection.

Step 3 Refer to your manual to set up your traffic priority. Give VOIP the highest priority available. It will make sure your phone calls have precedence over any other form of traffic, such as video streaming or games.

Step 4 Plug the Internet modem to the WAN port of your router, after which you will be able to connect to the Internet via a wireless connection.

Greetings from California! I’m bored at work so I decided to browse your blog on my iphone during lunch break. I really like the knowledge you present here and can’t wait to take a look when I get home. I’m amazed at how quick your blog loaded on my phone .. I’m not even using WIFI, just 3G .. Anyways, superb site!
