Why is my computer running slow even after removing the Google Redirect virus?

Last night, I successfully removed the Google Redirect Virus with TDSSKiller from Kaspersky Lab. Even after doing so, I find my computer still running slow. For example, my Firefox browser still takes approximately 30 sec-2 minutes to open. What can I do to make it run faster?

Use ctrl-alt-del to see what process are running on your pc, see if there are any that you do not want then stop them loading at bootup by going to the start, run (Search ) box in vista.

Type in msconfig then press enter.

When that opens go to the startup tab and disable the items you do not want to run at startup, they can be re-enabled if required.

Re-boot the pc and see if that helps.

The other too to use is process explorer as that will show more than the ctrl-alt-del does, it’s free from :-

The problem with slow computers is that most of the time. It’s all to do with a hidden part of your system .This part of your system is called the ‘registry’ and is a huge database which stores all the settings and options for your PC.The reason why the registry is responsible for making your computer run slow is because it is actually prone to getting corrupt and damaged. Because Windows is constantly using the database when you’re using your computer, it’s constantly got 100’s of registry files open. This unfortunately means that Windows gets confused, leading it to save the registry files wrong, making them incredibly difficult for your computer to read. Think of them as files which are all jumbled up, making your computer have to spend longer to read them. You just need to be able to clean out all the damaged files from the registry, allowing Windows to read all the files it needs, when it needs them. And to do this, you just need to use a tool called a ‘registry cleaner’.I should like to commend Registry Easy to you !

What you need to do is increase the system performance by doing system optimization tasks listed below. Some of them can be easily done using a software called RegInOut available for download here:

Doing all these system optimization tasks is recommended for at least once a week. This will help making your computer and internet experience faster.

Many reasons will lead to the computer runs slow, such as:
    1. the RAM and CPU was not enough.
    2. too many programs load at start up.
    3. computer was infected with virus.

SO you could scan your computer with Antivirus and save more space for the RAM and CPU. Perfect Optimizer could help you to solve the upper troubles, it could Speed up the Start up, System and Memory. it could improve the performance of the computer and could keep it in best condition.

    Hopes help you.

As we know, virus and Trojans make the computer malfunction by destroying and modifying the registry so that the computer will not run normally. After the virus and Trojans are removed, the registry is still destroyed or modified, so the computer still has problems. That’s why you need to repair the registry. Also, some virus and Trojans leave some DLL files in the registry and this will cause strange DLL errors and affect the computer performance.I recommend you use registry cleaner to scan and correct the errors.Just follow the below link which is so much useful for you…

One way to speed up your system is to select a good PC optimizer and System cleaner such as Reginout from Intel Software Directory

You will still have remnants of the Redirect Virus lurking on your PC. Whilst it may not be causing the redirects, TDSSKiller did not completely remove the virus. This fragmented it, but the browser still attempts to follow the protocol set out by the virus. It keeps hitting dead ends as parts of the virus have been removed and so Firefox cannot access the necessary data.

This is because the virus infects a system file. Viruses that follow this pattern are notoriously difficult to remove with conventional anti virus software, and even some more powerful ones such as TDSSKiller, as the anti virus is not designed to remove these types of viruses.

You should run a program called ComboFix. This should clean your computer thoroughly of the virus and provide a stable platform for your browser. ComboFix is a bespoke program and requires a tutorial on how to use it. One tutorial I use can be found here:

I would run this according to the tutorial, then I would run your anti virus and a reliable registry cleaner to make sure the virus is completely eradicated. This should ensure that your PC runs far more smoothly than before.

TDSSKiller removes malware that belonging to TDSS rootkit family. You should scan your computer for other type of malware too. You can use MalwareBytes or Spyware Doctor. Full removal details on the link below. Good luck!
