How can i connect 2 laptops with wifi to transfer files, without a router?

i have some files on 1 laptop, that i want to put onto another laptop, but as there are so many i would rather transfer them using wifi, is this even possible, or not, and if so how? Thanks in advance

yes it is possible give the machines similar ip’s and subnet masks e.g. 192.168.1.0 and 192.168.1.1 with subnets of 255.255.255.0

Download Skype and use the file transfer option. It is free,
Otherwise you van have a look at http://www.logmein.com which give you this functionality over the net.

it is not too hard to do. setup your wireless connection on both machines to “Ad-hoc”. They should connect. Don’t share internet connections this way as it is hard to secure.
It is easier to use a router to connect if you’ve got one.
