How do I optimize my PC for better Windows movie maker movies?

When I use my WMM, the process is rather slow and choppy. Are there any presteps to take to optimize my PC so that it runs more effectively? I am running with XP S2 with 512 RAM. I know that it is not a lot but it won’t go more, unless I upgrade to new PC. I can delete temp files but that only helps slightly. I am having to do it several times a session. Thanks!

Hmm. I have 512MB of RAM and movie maker works fine. It could be your hard drive capacity or your graphics card.

    Hi emzirek,

Here are the system requirements for Windows Movie Maker:
Windows Movie Maker requires the following minimum system configuration:
•A 600 megahertz (MHz) processor, such as an Intel Pentium III, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) Athlon, or equivalent processor
    •128 megabytes (MB) of RAM
•2 gigabytes (GB) of free hard disk space
•An audio capture device (to capture audio from external sources)
•A DV or analog video capture device (to capture video from external sources)
•An Internet connection (to save and send a movie to the Web or to send a movie as an attachment in an e-mail message)

To optimize the performance of Windows Movie Maker, the following system requirements are recommended:
•A 1.5 gigahertz (GHz) processor, such as an Intel Pentium 4, an AMD Athlon XP 1500+, or equivalent processor
    •256 megabytes (MB) of RAM

If you’re meeting those requirements and still seeing some lags, you should start shutting down compute-intensive and graphics-intensive programs. That should help out a bit.

    Cheers,
    Ron
