Pc World have sent my laptop off to Dell to be repaired will it cost anything?

Every time I turned it on it would come up with enter password in a blue box with white writing. But I had never set a passoword up. Pc World said it had something to do with BIOS. And they found it hard to believe that I hadn’t set up a password.

If this problem it is covered under warranty, it won’t cost anything. If not, it could be very expensive. I work at a Toshiba repair center and Toshiba would often cover this problem because there was a bug in the BIOS when Toshiba shipped out the laptop. Not sure about Dell. That is a good detail to know before having it sent off to be repaired.

I shouldn’t think so if you have just prchased it as your warranty will cover this “especially if you new set a BIOS Password yourself”

It is easy to remove the password but by doing so yourself you would have made your warranty void.
