When doing a pc cleanup, which should I do 1st an error checkup, disc cleanup and defragment?

I’m planning on doing a pc cleanup and is wondering if there is an order in which to do: error check, disc cleanup and defragment. Is there really an order to do it? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

No point in defragmenting loads of files you’re going to delete anyway – so that comes last.
Wouldn’t care to do lots of disc work without checking for errors first – so error check first.

If the disk cleanup includes deleting unused files (as opposed to merely running the utility that cleans out temporary internet files and the like without actually freeing up allocated disk space), you’ll want to do that before defragmenting, so that freed up disk space can be made into as large a contiguous area as possible.
