Slow it down compared to what ?
If you do a full clean install, it will do nothing but enhance the performance.

Actually, you would initially see a performance boost.

All the programs we install on a computer start to affect the drive space. Programs that leave little ‘helper programs’ running affect the available CPU and RAM. Browser toolbars and plugins affect how much bandwidth is available for your Internet.

Installing a clean system with nothing more than the latest service pack and a good antivirus is about the fastest you can make a computer without changing hardware.

It would actually make it faster. It would be like a new computer.

On the opposite. You would actually see a performance enhancement if you installed everything correctly.

No, it will definitely speed it up. But totally reformatting a disk, reinstalling drivers and programs is a brutal process that can take several days. May I ask why you are doing this? If you have a new glitch that recently developed doing a system restore is the way to go. This takes care of bad drivers.

If you want to check the basics of why your computer is slowing down in the first place so that you don’t have to go through this torture,

    Please seen my article:http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1994098/turbocharge_your_computer_pg5_pg5.html?cat=15

Updating windows XP with all its updates is by itself a hassle. Especially if you have a slow connection.

Registry problems cause pc slow down.
Registry Cleaner can fix your pc errors.
Clean windows registry can speed up the computer.
Over time, you install new programs, uninstalled unimportant programs, update software’s, install new devices,
download files from the web, etcetera, hence embarking all records in the registry system.
This is normal, but it is not wise to leave it untouched.
Once in a while, you have to check and remove files that are no longer in use to maintain the speed of your PC.
    Clean registry make pc faster.
