How do I clean water damage done to VHS tapes ?
If you have a precious memory stored in a damage VHS tape, you do not have to worry. You can clean and repair damaged VHS tape in no time by following these simple steps. Remember that you need a lot of patience to complete this project. To repair damaged VHS tapes, you will need tissues made of lint-free fabric or synthetic fiber with low dust and abrasion, archive quality adhesive tape, scissors, bio grade gloves and bio max.
First, place the VHS tapes in a warm area and let them dry out completely. If possible, rewind the VHS tapes. Then, pull out about twelve inches section on the VHS tape and clean them out with synthetic fiber tissue on both sides until it shows a clean shiny luster. This is where patience comes in; repeat the procedure until you wind the entire section of the VHS tape. You may also want to disassemble your VHS tapes to be able to clean the cover. Remember to put it back before you clean the sections.
If some of the section in your VHS tapes is severely damaged, you can use an archive quality adhesive tape to splice it together. If a section is chewed up and twisted beyond repair, you can cut only the damaged part of the tape and in about two inches in segment do the splicing with the adhesive tape to connect both ends.
This process may take some time but if the tape you are repairing has most of your fun memories, it is definitely worth the effort. Continue with the steps provided until you complete the entire VHS tape and a guaranteed result awaits you. Your VHS tapes will be as good as new and restored to its original state if you follow the steps correctly.
